Meeting with the Chairman of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, H.M.Talha, at the Novodevichy Convent

30 June, Khondker Muhammad Talha, President of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, visited the Novodevichy Convent in Moscow. Mr. Talha learned about the history of the convent and was given a tour of the grounds, including the Smolensk Cathedral, the Church of the Transfiguration of Our Lord, and the bell tower. The President of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference noted the uniqueness of the architectural ensemble, its outstanding universal value, and the excellent condition of the World Heritage site. Mr. Talha also commended the Moscow Patriarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church for the contribution of preserving the Novodevichy Convent complex for society and future generations as a World Heritage site and wished the convent sisters success in their endeavors.
